I am primarily an encaustic painter.  This means I paint in a medium that is bound by wax, adding the variety of color into the medium and then painting the medium onto a stable surface.  I fuse the wax each layer that I paint onto the surface.  Encaustic painting is an ancient form of painting that has recently seen a rise in popularity.  It's popularity has much to do with the versatility it provides in creating beautiful surfaces and translucent layers where images and texture bubble up, some of it controlled by the artist and much of it with a life of its own.
